Created primarily for runners, this trail was designed to give runners the opportunity to run on several types of surfaces.
This hiking, running and biking trail was a coordinated effort of the Leon County Parks & Rec Department and Gulf Winds Track Club, and is a welcome addition to the already extensive trail networks that wind in and around the capital city.
The 3-mile trail begins on a gravel road and then transitions to a compacted shell trail. Along the way, users will pass a pond that’s commonly used for fishing before running along the edges of a large field where enthusiasts fly model planes (it’s sunny here, so remember sunscreen). The trail then turns back uphill to pass by several sports fields and through a forest of towering oaks before returning to the gravel road that leads to the park entrance where parking, restrooms and water fountains await.
Amenities: Parking area, 4 multi-purpose fields (2 lighted)
Cost: No entry fee
